NBA-style rankings: LeBron’s Takeoff tribute, Def Leppard love and more cuts

We missed a day of basketball — and crises — as the NBA urged players, coaches and fans across the country to come out and vote on Nov. 8. Still, there was no shortage of style provided during pre-match dressing room walks.

In this week’s NBA Style Rankings, the face of the league arguably paid tribute to an artist tragically gone too soon. In addition, Darius BazleyThe collection of berets has grown and we have had several newcomers. Here are the rankings for this week:

Ibaka is the first of several new faces in this edition of the ranking. Ibaka has long been known to love high fashion, so it’s only fitting that we start this week with the 2019 NBA champion.

Her blue and red cardigan is woven in several different styles, almost creating an optical illusion. The blue pants are a shade darker than the blue of the cardigan, which I’m sure was a conscious choice. This cut already has so many colors that all it needed was white and gray sneakers to complete it.

The black shades, the silver watch and the black Louis Vuitton bag make them great accessories.

The Knicks play in one of fashion’s meccas, and Grimes and Barrett are the first of the team to make an appearance here. Grimes and Barrett arrived at Madison Square Garden knowing they were flying, but there was no doubt that they were just as hot. These Kith pieces are perfect for the change in weather we’re seeing across the country, and I appreciate each one for different reasons.

Grimes’ jacket has patches with different patterns, fabrics and colors, but somehow they all tie together to create a stylish fall look. He went with green sweatpants and white Air Force 1s, staying within the color theme of his jacket. Barrett’s coat feels heavier and more winter-ready. Since his coat was a little bigger, he threw on a white hoodie with matching beige sweatshirts to accent his coat.

Well played by Grimes and Barrett.

From the in-form photos I’ve seen this season of Mills, I feel like he often has to be the coolest person in the room, even on a team with superstars. Mills makes two weeks in a row where a player ranks almost solely based on the pants they’re wearing.

These orange and white wavy pants allow Mills to easily pull on anything black to make the pants stand out. The black hat, sunglasses, shirt and shoes all contribute to the vitality of the pants. Mills has been a surprise early in the season with his tantrums so far.

Green is back for the second straight week. An observation: Green is definitely a fan of Louis Vuitton. Last week we saw the Louis jacket in black leather; this week he was sure to bring his Louis luggage – which make great accent pieces.

He wears the t-shirt from Def Leppard’s “Adrenalize” album, an album released about a decade before he was born. Style points for music knowledge – or just the appreciation of a cool shirt. Either way, the contrast between the all-black North Face down jacket and the white shirt makes the album cover stand out. He’s only a few games into his third season, but Green definitely has an eye for fashion.

The fit of the Michigan State product surprised me a bit. Of all the players I’ve seen taking an interest in fashion, I haven’t seen much from Forbes… but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for them.

The Punk Pink Hoodie is one of the most eye-catching pieces you’ll see on this week’s list. The rhinestones on the lettering give this hoodie an extra touch. Punk was designed by Grammy-winning rapper Young Thug. Forbes knew how cool his hoodie was and only had to put on black jeans, a black hat and black sneakers.

Bazley becomes synonymous with berets the more he wears them. And while berets aren’t something I see every day, they’re never the focus of his tantrums. This time it was his Missoni jacket.

Dark cargo pants are always a good option when you have a colorful centerpiece like this jacket. New Balance white shoes offer an alternative to designer shoes that have a similar construction.

Fun fact: Bazley had a $1 million internship at New Balance before being drafted which eventually turned into an endorsement deal. Prior to NIL, companies had to be creative to avoid violations.

What’s cooler than playing in the NBA yourself? Have a mother who played in the WNBA. Niele Ivey played five seasons for Indiana Fever, Detroit Shock and Phoenix Mercury. She is too currently head coach of the Notre Dame women’s basketball team, a team she once played on.

It was just for Jaden to show his mom some love by rocking his Shock jersey before the game. His red pants were the same shade as the red in the coloring of the number. This is the second time this season that Jaden has worn a family member’s professional shirt. He took out the his grandfather’s shirtformer Detroit Lions defensive back James Hunter, during opening week.

Barnes (pictured left), the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, stepped into the Thunder arena like he knew he was walking away with a win. He didn’t, but his pre-match look was compelling enough to make it into this week’s style rankings.

The baby blue letterman jacket in coordination with the baby blue Louis Vuitton trainers was flexible enough, but Barnes added the Chrome Hearts crossover jeans for good measure. And I can’t forget the shades of white, which highlight the white sleeves of his man of letters. Barnes will definitely be on my weekly radar.

Haliburton is one of the most promising young guards in the league and has the swag to match the box office billing off the field. I’ve noticed a few of his tantrums from the past few weeks and still can’t quite put my finger on his style, which makes me like him even more.

The 22-year-old has a more mature fashion sense than his counterparts. The Pelle Pelle red leather jacket is already pretty rare, but it added some extra bling. Haliburton intended to zip the jacket halfway up so you could still see his chain.

If you know James, you know he’s a huge hip-hop fan. He is often seen on his Instagram Stories singing the latest tunes from his Maybach. He’s been on stage with artists like Drake and Travis Scott and even served as executive producer on 2 Chainz’s “Rap or Go to the League” album.

To pay tribute to Takeoff – the member of the rap group Migos who was killed in Houston on November 1 – James wore a black suit, dark glasses and a chain similar to Takeoff. Not only was it a great look, but it also paid homage to someone James has been. listening since 2010.
